Developing Child Care Facilities
The Children’s Network has worked with community partners to create a streamlined process for child care facilities financing and development that increases children and families’ access to quality child care and development services which ensures a strong local economy in the future, reduces future government spending, and produces an overall higher quality of life for members of the community.
These tools are designed to create and/or strengthen partnerships between the child care community and businesses, real estate developers, government agencies, community developers and others for the purpose of a more efficient and cost effective development of quality child care spaces. This effort has also helped integrate child care facilities development into cities and county land use planning, community development programs, zoning and permit processes, and transportation plans.
Improving the process and supporting improved child care facilities is a project of the Solano County Child Care Planning Council and is administered by The Children’s Network of Solano County. The initial effort was funded by the Affordable Building for Children’s Development Constructing Connections, a program of the Low Income Invest Fund with major funding from First 5 CA. Solano County’s program was also made possible by a grant from First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission and contributions from Solano Family and Children’s Services and The Children’s Network of Solano County.
