 | Family Resource Center FundingFor the 2002-2005 three-year funding cycle, the Solano Children's Alliance recommended to continue core funding for implementation of Family Resource Centers (FRCs) in each city in Solano County. FRCs assist families in identifying and accessing community resources, including parenting, recreation, job search, transportation, child care, basic needs, etc. FRCs also offer parenting resource libraries, parenting classes, computer and internet access for job search and resume writing, and much more. This cycle, the successful FRC applicants for each city are as follows: Benicia FRC: Youth & Family Services - $25,675/year Dixon FRC: Dixon Family Services - $25,365/year Fairfield FRC: Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District/Healthy Start - $66,091/year Rio Vista FRC: Rio Vista CARE - $25,210/year Suisun FRC: Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District/Healthy Start - $26,450/year Vacaville FRC: City of Vacaville - $51,874/year Greater Vallejo FRC: Fighting Back Partnership - $66,317/year North Vallejo FRC: Fighting Back Partnership - $23,050/year
Continued funding of the FRCs represents a conscious effort by the Alliance to sustain and improve the effectiveness of family support and child abuse prevention programs that have taken hold in Solano County. The Alliance promotes use of blended funding strategies (drawing down uncapped federal or state funds and matching with Alliance -directed funds) to sustain vital community programs such as the FRCs. Along these lines, the Alliance has set aside a reserve fund ($62,866/year) to be used as match for bringing additional funds for children’s programs into Solano County. At this time, no agencies have been recommended to receive financial support from the reserve fund. |
