Free Training OpportunitiesAccess an expert to conduct onsite and/or near site training for your program. Who Can Apply? Any licensed center or family child care program may apply. Family Child Care (FCC) Programs: At least three Family Child Care Providers (Assistants may be included) must participate in the training. Two or more programs can jointly apply. Centers: At least five staff must participate in the training. Two or more programs can jointly apply. FCC programs and center staff may also jointly apply. Collaboration is encouraged!
How Do We Apply? Each program must complete a Training Needs Assessment. (See examples of training topics below). The assessment must demonstrate the need for these funds. After identifying the site's training needs, the program may apply to receive training from a specified trainer from the Expert Pool. Once the application has been approved, the Children's Network will contract with the trainer to conduct the training on the specified topic at a time and location that works for staff. Funding is available to cover the costs of the trainer, materials, and other support services such as translation. Expert Pool
Agencies and individuals with expertise in specified topics have been invited to apply to participate in the Expert Pool. Qualified applicants will be available to provide training to licensed child care programs. If you are interested in applying to participate on the Expert Pool, download the application. For more information about the different levels of participation in this portion of the program, visit the appropriate pages listed on the left, or download the Solano CARES/Professional Development Program Track Matrix. The Solano CARES/Professional Development Program is a project of the Solano County Child Care Planning Council and is administered by the Children's Network of Solano County. The program is made possible by grants from the First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission, First 5 California, and the California Department of Education.
