Solano CARES/Professional Development Program Track Matrix

SOLANO CARES - STIPENDS FOR EDUCATION

FFN Track: Non-licensed Family, Friend and Neighbor (FFN) and licensed Exempt caregivers providing services for at least one child birth to five, other than their own, for a minimum of 15 hours per week. May receive materials for participating in training/workshops through Solano Family & Children's Services.

 

EDUCATION STIPENDS: Providers working in any licensed child care center or licensed family child care home who meet minimum eligibility requirements, are eligible to participate in this portion of the program.


*Stipends awarded are contingent upon the number of applicants approved. Funding is on a first come firstserve basis. Maximum of 6 Units.

Tracks Participants Annual Participation Requirements

  II. ENTRY TRACK
 

*$125 -$250

per Unit

Providers working in licensed family

child care programs and licensed

centers w/less than the 6 Early

Childhood Education (ECE)/ Child

Development (CD) units.

 

Participants must meet with program staff to complete

a Professional Development (PD) Plan and

application.

FCC – Minimum of 1 unit in ECE/CD

CB – Minimum of 3 units in ECE/CD

II. PERMIT TRACK
 

*$160 - $300

per Unit

Providers working in licensed family

child care programs or licensed centers

with a minimum of 6 Early Child Care

Education (ECE/CD) units

 

Must have proof applied for Child

Development Permit before eligible to

receive stipend

Participants must meet with program staff to complete a Professional Development (PD) Plan and

application;

and

**3 to 6 units a year;

and

All units must be applicable toward Permit or help a participant gain skills that enable them to take Permit

applicable classes;

and

Participants must receive training on the latest revision of the Environment Rating Scale tool appropriate to their type of caregiving, annually conduct a self-assessment of their program/classroom and submit a copy along with a improvement plan for

one area where they received a score of "4" or less or the lowest score.

**Environment Rating Scale tool units are not counted in the minimum unit requirement.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

Currently work at a licensed child care program in Solano County for pay at least 30 hours per week with at least one

child, not your own, under the age of 5.

Earn less than $60,000 annually (gross income for center based; adjusted gross income for FCC), working as a child

care provider/early educator.

Must have worked 9 consecutive months at current site at the time of submitting stipend application.

All course work must be completed with a 'C' or better at an accredited college/university.

 
STIPENDS FOR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH ACTIVITIES

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM:

Providers working in childcare centers contracting wit the California Department of Education (CDE/CDD) provide subsidized child care services (i.e. State preschool, General Child Care) are eligible to participate in this portion of the program. These providers may choose to participate on this level OR the Entry Track OR the Permit Track depending on educational level and professional development goals.

STIPENDS FOR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH ACTIVITIES
$150 per year

Minimum Eligibility Requirements Annual Participation Requirements
  • Must hold at least a valid Teacher Level Permit.

  • Currently work at a state subsidized center in Solano County for pay for at least 30 hours per week with at least one child, not your own, under the age of 5.

  • Earn less than $60,000 working as a child care provider/early educator.

  • Must have worked 9 consecutive months at the time of submitting stipend application.

  • Must meet with program staff to complete a Professional Development Plan and application.

  • Must complete 21 hours of professional growth activities which meet their professional goals (as outline in PD Plan).
