Expert PoolThe Children's Network is pleased to present the Solano County Professional Development Program (PDP) Expert Pool Application. First 5 Solano and the California Department of education have provided funding to implement the Professional Development Program, which aims to improve the retention rates and educational levels of the workforce thus improving the quality of child care and development services countywide. In addition to encouraging providers to take college level classes, which help them advance on the Child Development Permit Matrix and toward higher level degrees, we are offering approximately 25 onsite trainings this year. To facilitate this effort, we are establishing an "expert pool" of trainers. Staff working in child care centers and family child care homes will assess their training needs and will then select an individual and/or organization from the expert pool list to meet these needs. The Children's Network will assist providers in the application process and will then contract with the identified "expert" to conduct the training. If you are interested in becoming a participant in the expert pool, download and complete the Expert Pool Application. The Quality Workforce Committee of the Solano County Child Care Planning Council will select individuals and organizations that will be certified into the expert pool; those selected will be included on the list. The Quality Workforce Committee cannot guarantee that an organization or individual certified into the expert pool will be selected by a child care program to provide training. For more information about the Expert Pool or the Expert Pool Application, contact Shelia Hanney, Professional Development Program Coordinator, at 707-421-7229 ext. 124. For more information about the different levels of participation in this portion of the program, visit the appropriate pages listed on the left, or download the Solano CARES/Professional Development Program Track Matrix. The Solano CARES/Professional Development Program is a project of the Solano County Child Care Planning Council and is administered by the Children's Network of Solano County. The program is made possible by grants from the First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission, First 5 California, and the California Department of Education.
