Screener/Greeter
(Meets/Greets/Registers Clients)

Screens for income and other program eligibility, sets appointments and determines supporting documentation required for tax return.

People Skills Required

Volunteer Interest Form

Tax Preparer
(No Experience Required - Training Provided)

Prepares electronic federal and state tax returns for eligible taxpayers. Must complete VITA training and receive certification by the IRS.

Computer Literacy Required

Integrated training on tax law and tax return preparation using TaxWise software.

Volunteer Interest Form

Quality Reviewer
(Tax professionals, experienced volunteers only)

Works with tax preparers to verify all client tax returns before transmitting.

Tax Preparation and Computer Literacy Required

A one-day refresher course is available.

Volunteer Interpreter
(No Experience Required)

Interpreters, both verbal and sign language, are needed to serve non-English speaking and hearing-impaired tax payers. Interpreters are generally assigned to greet the public and serve as screeners to ensure non-English speaking/hearing-impaired taxpayers understand what is required to prepare their tax returns.

Financial Management Training Instructor

Teaches financial education classes and helps families gain knowledge, skills and habits needed to successfully manage money.
