Child Care Subsidy Plan Pilot Program

Assemblyman Jim Frazier has introduced Assembly Bill 377, which would authorize Solano County to develop and implement individualized child care subsidy plans. The Solano Children’s Alliance, along with the Solano County Child Care and Development Planning Council, First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission, and Solano Family and Children’s Services, have all worked in partnership to move this bill forward.

This legislation will keep much needed funds in the county. In 2015-16, Solano County lost $750,000 in state funding. It is estimated that with the passage of this bill, 100 additional children from low income working families in Solano County will have childcare.

AB 377 would allow families in Solano County not served in licensed Child Care Centers, to take their child care funding to licensed Family Child Care Homes that are more widely available across the county.

The first legislative hearing is on April 25,2017 before the Assembly Human Services Committee at the Capitol.
